Sense8

The best show I ever experienced. Sense 8. I am carefully using experienced instead of watched. People have different relationships with movies and shows. It’s always been an escape to me. A romantic escape to Paris, an action-filled day in New York. A colorful trip to India. Sense 8 was all of that and more. I am human, I am fearless, I am whole, I am incomplete, I am imperfect, I am beautiful, I am love, I am we. That’s what my heart remembers, that’s what my heart feels after watching this life changing masterpiece.

For the first time in my life, I’ve witnessed heroes with dramatic flaws and insecurities. Terrible past and difficult presents. Most definitively uncertain and unpredictable futures. Heroes that cry, that were weak, that were criminals. Heroes I could truly relate to. Heroes that had no reason to believe, to love or hope, but did that more fiercely than I ever witnessed on television. All that while being brave, true, powerful, inspiring and truly mind-blowing.

I am amazed by the work the team has done. Connecting the world and humans in a way that has never been done on tv before. They captured the essence of the different cultures and authentically presented them in a beautiful way. There is so much to say about the characters and their relationships, but it’s 2am I have to be up at 6, I just had to let my emotions out. So i’ll say this, the world is as big as it is small. We are many and we are one. We are ugly and we are beautiful. The one thing that can save us all, is to be the change we want to see. It’s to love without boundaries, regardless of color, gender, religion and species. It’s to embrace our differences. Who’s to say who we should love or how we should love, who’s to judge our mistakes and dictate our future. No one. Nous sommes la résistance. I am Sun. I am Will, I am Bug, I am Nomi, I am Annita, I am Wolfgang, I am Lito, I am Kala, I am Riley, I am Capheus #VanDamme. I am human and completely in love with and aware of my humanity.
